FIVA

The Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) is a worldwide non-governmental organisation dedicated to the preservation, protection and promotion of historic vehicles and the culture associated with them.

The aim of the FIVA Identity Card programme is to document and preserve automotive cultural assets for present and future generations and to provide the owner with a precise (although not infallible), independently verified and issued document on the identity and history of his historic vehicle. The basis for this is the FIVA Technical Code as amended and the associated supplementary documents.

In Switzerland, FIVA Identity Cards are issued by the technical commission of the SHVF (as ANF = Autorité Nationale FIVA) at the request of the owner of a vehicle registered in Switzerland and worthy of preservation. Vehicles that are not registered (even with a dealer's licence plate) must be duty paid in Switzerland. In addition, their owner must be resident in Switzerland.
